- The germination performance of seeds, especially, of some vegetable species, can
be improved with the osmopriming. Thus, this research was conducted in order to verify the
efficiency of osmopriming on lettuce seeds germination and on the storage periods. Seeds of
cultivars Brasil 303 and Elisa, after initial evaluation (germination and moisture content) were
submitted to osmopriming using mannitol solution (0,35mol.), for periods of 3, 4, 5 and 6 days, at
temperature of 20oC and light. After priming the seeds were dried, for 12 hours, in oven with
temperature of 32oC. The evaluations were performed, using standard germination test, after six
periods of storage (0, 10, 20, 30, 60 and 90 days) after priming and storage of the seeds. The
experimental design was a complete randomized with four replications of 50 seeds. The data were
submitted to analysis of variance in factorial arrangement 256 (two levels of vigor; five periods
of osmopriming and six periods of storage after drying). The osmopriming increased the germination
percentage of low vigour seeds, when osmoprimed for three and four days,
