INFLUENCE OF SUBSTRATE AND GERMINATION TEMPERATURE OF TOMATO PELLET SEEDS
ADEMAR PEREIRA OLIVEIRA, RISELANE LUCENA ALCÂNTARA BRUNO E EDNA URSULINO ALVES
- This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different substrates and temperatures on
the germination of tomato pellet seeds. An experiment was conducted at Laboratório de Análise
de Sementes do CCA-UFPB, in Areia-PB, in completely randomized design with the treatments
distributed in outline factorial 3x4, with the temperatures factors (temperature constant of 25 and
30oC and alternate temperature of 20-30oC) and substrate (between paper, on paper, between sand
and between vermiculite), in four replications of 50 seeds. The following characteristics were
analyzed: germination (%), first germination count, germination speed and dry matter weight of
the seedlings. Statistically superior results were verified for percentage and germination speed in
substrate between sand and between vermiculite, at 25 and 30oC and for the first germination
count the substrate between sand at 30oC and between vermiculite at 25 and 30oC were the best.
Superior results of dry matter weight were observed in substrate between sand 25oC. For tomato
pellet seeds, it is recommended the substrate between sand or between vermiculite on constant
temperature of 25 or 30oC.
