This work intended to evaluate cotton seed quality, variety IAC 20, according to
their size and three sites of production (Capinópolis-MG, Porteirão-GO and Ituverava-SP). It was
undertaken at Laboratory of Seed Analysis from Agroscience Institute at the Federal University of
Uberlândia, growing season of 1994/95, with acid-delinted seeds donated by COTTON Company
S/A from Uberlândia-MG. The experiment followed a completely randomized blocks design with
four replicates and treatments were distributed at a factorial model 2x3 (seed size x sites of
production). It was evaluated 1000 seeds weight, germination, speeding aging, sanity, field
emergence and sand emergence speed. It was concluded that: Porteirão-GO site showed to be the
most suited place for cotton seed production, as seeds from this place had greater weight,
germination and vigor, independently of their size, together with less fungi diseases; Capinópolis-
MG site showed to be not suited for cotton seeds production, and Ituverava-SP site showed to be
a favorable site but with some restrictions; as a general tendency, seeds of greater size standed out
in all quality attributes, irrespective from site of production.
