STATIONARY DRYING OF WHEAT SEEDS WITH FORCED AMBIENT AIR
DANTON CAMACHO GARCIA, ANTONIO CARLOS SOUZA ALBUQUERQUE BARROS,SILMAR TEICHERT PESKE E NILSON LEMOS MENEZES
With the purpose of evaluating the effects of the drying, on wheat seed quality,
seeds were submitted to using forced ambient air, with three air flows (0.7; 1.0 and 1.3m³/min./t).
The seeds were harvested with 17.8% of moisture. The drying front speed was determined. Wheat
seeds with 17.8% of moisture content can be dried up to 13% in stationary dryer of false floor
using forced ambient air until 5.25m deep seed layer. The stationary drying with low air flows and
deep layer of seeds shows moisture differences among layers, superior to 2.0 percentile age points
and as it increases the larger layer of seeds is the difference in the necessary time for drying with
different flows of air used.
