With objective of characterizing plants, fruits, seeds and seedlings of mandarin
with natural occurrence in the south of Espirito Santo State, using twenty five plants with eight
years of age, with seminiferous origin, located in Alegre-ES, they were accomplished in the period
of August of 1996 to November of 2001. Descriptions and measures of the trees, leaves, flowers,
fruits and seeds were done. Considering the studied parameter the following general characteristics
were observed: height plant (3,8m); dense foliage; with lanceolate leaves and serrate margins;
brevepetiolates, flowers withe and isolated in axials of leaves; medium obovate fruits with high
base, depressed base and medium weight of 134.0g, low revenue in juice, with medium number of
40 seeds and these tends to present 65.12% of polyembryonie in direct seed embryo count. In
spite of its fruits they not present desirable commercial characteristics, his study allowed to
characterize this plants and with his high adaptation to the ecological conditions of the south of the
Espirito Santo State, the plant can be used in future researches with door-graft for this area.
