JAIME ROBERTO FONSECA ADELSON DE BARROS FREIRE MARLENE SILVA FREIRE FRANCISCO J.P. ZIMMERMAN

The objetives of this study were to determine how long bean seeds
remain viable, when stored under the following conditions: ordinary storage room,
cold and dry storage room (12°C and 30% relative humidity), and dry storage room
(30% relative humidity). Seeds were kept in cloth bags during a four years period.
Storage conditions were not significantly different for short periods. However, for
long term storage, the treatment means of germination and vigor exhibited
significant differences and the ordinary storage room condititons were inferior as
compared to the controlled conditions.
