EFFECTS OF SPACING AND PLANT POPULATION, ON SEED YIELD OF PEAS IN BRASÍLIA, DF

CLAUDINEI ANDREOLI;RUY REZENDE FONTES

Two cultivars of pea (Pisum sativum L.) "Elegante" and "Petrolini"
were grown in all combinations of 10, 20 and 40cm between rows, and 250, 500,
1000 and 2000 thousand plants/ha, by varying the sowing density from 2.5 to 80
seeds/m. When the number of plants per hectare was the same the spacing did not
have any influence on yield. However, the yield was higher when the number of
plants per hectare increased at the spacing of 20cm between row. With increase of
plant density, there was a decrease of number of pods per plant, but an increase of
weight of 100 seeds. The yield components were not affected by spacing under
"cerrado" conditions. The economic analysis of the experiment is discussed
